HEART: A Bible Study for Healing from a Past Abortion
A new HEART group will be starting in late October. This ministry is a bible study support group designed for women who have been adversely affected by abortion. It is designed to help bring reconciliation and restoration for those who are struggling and need support. If you are interested in being in a HEART group at B4Church or another location, visit the HEART website for more information, or call our confidential voice mail at 503.22.HEART [503.224.3278].
If you can say these simple words and mean it, you’re perfect for our Campus Care Team. From parking to safety to just plain being helpful, our team helps people feel loved and welcome on campus. Sure, we also make sure they get safely to and from wherever they need to go. And we keep an eye on all activities during Sunday services. But more than that, we’re often the first faces people see and among the first impressions they have of B4. Especially new folks. So, what do you say? Are you in? The team is currently recruiting new members to serve with us. If you’re all about making someone’s visit here safer, and more delightful, join us. For more information, contact Dawn Scott at the email above.
Why get water baptized?
Jesus instructed his followers to go make disciples and to baptize them. Jesus was baptized before he started his public ministry. In the book of Acts, Luke recounts story after story where those who came to faith were soon baptized in water. We believe that’s why anyone who follows Jesus should be water baptized after they come to faith in him.
What is it and what happens?
It’s a simple public confession of faith in and commitment to Jesus. You get into a waist-deep tank of warm water with a pastor, usually at church during the worship part of the service. While the congregation sings, the pastor asks you if you’ve trusted Jesus as savior and want to follow him as Lord. You say, “yes.” And the pastor immerses you in the water.
Do I have to do this to be saved?
Nope. Only faith in Jesus saves you, but if you want to follow him, and obeying one of his commands is a priority for you, then you probably want to be water baptized.
What if I was baptized (christened) as a child?
That’s great. That means your parents, and those closest to you wanted something spiritually significant for you. One of the ways you can honor that is to be water baptized as an adult after coming to faith in Jesus.
