036 – Preparing for Lent
B4church   -

This week, Alex, Ashleigh, and Josiah Johnson (current resident on the B4 Adult Ministries Team) discuss the season of Lent, which begins later this month. They talk about the origins of the season as well as how the season helps to give us hope and joy even as we long for the restoration of a broken world.

For an overview of Lent and the traditional meanings.

Those Who Wait by Tanya Marlow. An interesting look at what the “waiting life” of biblical heroes could have looked like.

Everything Happens for a Reason by Kate Bowler. Kate shares her story journeying through a cancer diagnosis as a theological professor. One of the best things in this book is a list of what not to say to someone who is walking through a season of grief.

The Common Rule by Justin Whitmel Early. Ashleigh mentioned this book, it is a modern day look at the disciplines and how they can be incorporated into Western lifestyles.
