HumanKind Week 17: “It’s Like This”
Smitchell   -

Jesus described the Kingdom of God two ways: close to us and available. He also characterized it as priceless and desirable, so much so that someone would sell all they had just to have it.

How do those descriptions resonate today? We live in a culture where almost anything we want can be shipped, streamed, or hand-carried to our door at a moment’s notice. That is if we’re rich enough. And with most Americans well within the top 1% of earners in the world, it seems we are. So why are anxiety, depression, and a general sense of purposelessness such an epidemic in the developed world? Perhaps it’s because somehow we know that we’re made for something more, for the Kingdom of which Jesus spoke.
