We are made for and from the “dust of the earth.” We are made from and for the Garden’s goodness. We are dust and breath, of the flesh and of the Spirit. This is humbling (dust) and exalting (breath). He breathes His breath into our dusty frames and stamps us with His image (Gen 1:27). But it soon goes badly, and we lose the promise of dust and breath. Enter Jesus, who steps into the endless aching frustration of our life-as-dust world. He redeems it and re-animates us with His breath, the Spirit.
